Orthodontic Treatment Device
OrthoAccel Technologies was founded as a virtual company to commercialize technology that reduces the time needed to wear braces. The medical product design, based on research by Dr. Jeremy Mao when he was at the University of Chicago, involves application of pulsating forces to teeth.
Devicix was contracted to translate a topic of the university research into a working home healthcare consumer medical product. Clinical units allowed OrthoAccel to conduct clinical trials to demonstrate efficacy. The production version incorporated extensive human factors engineering (HFE) and industrial design to capture clinician needs, and ensure consumer patients were excited to use the device.
Medical product design by Devicix:
- Kick off meeting to CE Mark in 12 months
